SP-D deficient mice have increased airway inflammation following O 3 exposure. (A) SP-D -/- mice and age-matched C57BL/6 controls were exposed to 3 ppm O3 for 2 hrs or (B) to 0.5 ppm for 24 hrs. Influx of neutrophilic granulocytes was assessed on cytospin preparations stained with Kwickâ„¢Diff. In both models cellular inflammation in SP-D -/- mice was significantly higher compared to wt mice (A) Student t-test *p = 0.0106 (B) ANOVA and Barlett's test *p = 0.0082.
