Serum IL-1Rα [median (interquartile range): 121.9 (63.8–175.6) vs. 34.7 (4.4, 58.7) pg/mL, P < 0.01], IL-8 [8.7 (7.0–14.6) vs. 3.4 (1.3–6.1) pg/mL, P < 0.01], and MIP-1α [1.8 (1.3–2.7) vs. 1.1 (0.8–1.5) pg/mL, P < 0.05] levels were significantly higher in the discovery cohort than in controls.
