Nicotine-induced effects on kinin receptor-mediated airway contractions. Tracheal segments were cultured for 1 day (A, B), 2 days (C, D) or 4 days (E, F) in presence of vehicle (Control, 0.1% DMSO) or nicotine (Nic, 1 or 10 μM). Contractions were induced by des-Arg9-bradykinin (D-A-BK; A, C, E) or bradykinin (BK; B, D, F). Each data point is derived from 15-22 experiments and data is presented as mean ± S.E.M. Statistical analysis was performed using two-way ANOVA with Bonferroni's post-test. Control vs Nic. * P < 0.05; ** P < 0.01; *** P < 0.001.
