Tissue samples were taken from 37 patients. Patient details including age, gender, lung function given as the ratio of air that can be forcibly exhaled in one second (FEV₁) to the forced vital capacity (FVC), FEV₁/FVC and FEV₁% predicted and smoking status are listed as the mean ± SEM.
